Police appeal to identify Everton fans after violent clashes with Millwall

Police have released images of 16 Everton fans suspected of being involved in brawls with Millwall supporters after an FA Cup match.

The violence on January 26 saw one Everton fan slashed down the right side of his face as rival groups clashed in ugly scenes.

Detective Sergeant Matt Simpson from the Met said the unrest was “some of the worst football violence we have witnessed for a very long time” and had caused “chaos”.

So far 15 people have been arrested and released under investigation, while another 10 have been interviewed under caution.

Mr Simpson said: ““As part of this long and complex investigation we have trawled hundreds of hours of CCTV and taken dozens of witness statements.

“We have travelled across the country and worked with numerous partners in order to identify those involved. We will continue to work hard to bring those responsible to justice.

“We are now working closely with Merseyside Police to identify the individuals in these images, who we believe to be Everton fans.

“The public have undoubtedly helped us bring many wanted offenders to justice in the past, and we hope they can continue to assist us in this investigation by identifying those pictured.”
