Bobby Moore Fund Annual Celebrity Sports Quiz

Sport News 24/7

On Thursday, TLE Sport will be attending the 17th annual Bobby Moore Fund Celebrity Sports Quiz, and, in order not to look too foolish, we have been revising furiously, poring over old Playfair annuals, memorising the Jack Charlton Soccer Quiz book, and looking up old episodes of A Question of Sport on YouTube (sadly all of those are absolutely true).

It is 22 years now since arguably England’s greatest ever footballer died of bowel cancer, and since then the Bobby Moore Fund has raised over £21 million for Cancer Research UK, to help pioneering research into bowel cancer.  The Fund raises money in a variety of ways, from Football Shirt Friday, an initiative that invites football fans to wear a football shirt on a particular Friday in April, to large-scale special events like this Thursday.  This year’s quiz will be hosted by Clare Balding, she of the smoothest voice this side of Moira Stuart, and Steve Cram and Kelly Cates are among the celebrity guests.

A few tables are still available apparently, so if anyone is stuck for something to do on Thursday night, and has nine other friends similarly at a loose end, then head to  http://bobbymoorefund.cancerresearchuk.org/get-involved/social-events/celebrity-sports-quiz-2015-london, or if you haven’t got that much money down the back of the sofa, then have a look at http://bobbymoorefund.cancerresearchuk.org/get-involved/ for other ideas on how to help raise money.  I’ll certainly be taking part in next year’s Football Shirt Friday.
