More than 99% of UK constituencies would vote to rejoin the EU, new poll shows

Don’t suppose there’s any more of that ‘will of the people’ stuff going around? Because this would certainly be a good time to take stock of public sentiment regarding Brexit. A new major poll from YouGov – commissioned by Best For Britain – now shows a huge swell of support for the UK to rejoin the EU.

It’s the latest in the long line of surveys which capture a fed-up feeling among an increasing number of Brits, 10 years after the UK voted to leave the trading bloc in a controversial and consequential referendum. However, it feels like there’d be a very different outcome if another vote was held today.

The new poll surveyed upwards of 11,000 voters, from 628 constituency seats. Participants were asked to identify which EU relationship they want the British government to propose, with a major UK-EU now on the horizon. Among the seven options, one proved more popular than most.

Regaining EU membership (35%) topped the chart by a comfortable margin, almost doubling the vote share of the second-most popular option – which is to maintain the government’s current ‘EU reset’ policies. Fewer than one in six respondents wanted to ‘loosen ties’ with the Union.

And, when these votes were split by constituency, a rather unignorable consensus forms. In all but four of the 628 seats, rejoining the EU emerged as the most backed option – essentially meaning that more than 99% of constituencies in the country, based on this sample size, would vote to REVERSE Brexit.

Funnily enough, the four constituencies which wouldn’t want the UK to rejoin the EU – Ashfield, Clacton, Great Yarmouth and Boston – all have MPs who stood for Reform in the last General Election. What’s more, seven of the top 10 most ‘pro-EU seats’ were based in Scotland.

‘Vote to rejoin the EU would ‘see off Reform threat’
