Labour open up huge polling lead as Reform continue to fall away

It may have been a slightly quieter week in British politics, but that hasn’t stopped Labour continuing to stretch their lead in the polls.

John Healey’s Budget last week sparked much debate and criticism from opposition parties, as would usually be expected from a Budget.

But it seems that Labour’s plans for the economy have done little to put off British voters.

A week on from the Budget, Labour have extended their lead in two major polls.

More in Common’s latest polling, published on Wednesday, showed Labour’s support had increased by one point, putting them on 29%.

With the Tories seeing a one-point drop, this gave Labour a six-point leader at the top, their highest since 2024.

Meanwhile, Reform remain in third after also suffering a one-point fall in support.

This polling was followed by the latest figures from Freshwater Strategy, who recorded an even bigger lead at the top for Labour.

A one-point increase and no change for the Conservatives meant Labour is a huge eight-points clear at the top of their polling.

Another one-point drop for Reform also saw them fall to level with the Tories in joint-second.

The polls are yet more evidence that Reform have fallen behind the Tories into third place, in what is a truly remarkable polling collapse for Nigel Farage’s party.

As for Andy Burnham, if the polls continue to look like this in the spring, he may be tempted by calls for an early general election.
