onald Trump could quit within weeks and hand his presidency to JD Vance, that’s at least what one political expert has suggested.
The 47th president of the United States is about 40% of the way through his second term as president and is rapidly approaching the all-important midterms this November.
The midterms elect all 435 seats in the House of Representatives – since these seats act on a two-year basis – while 35 of the 100 Senate seats are up for grabs.

The midterms matter because they help decide who controls Congress.
This is important because to pass new legislation, the president must secure Congressional approval.
Many have already predicted a disastrous outcome for Trump in these elections with the president’s approval rating down in the low 30s.
With this in mind, political commentator James Carville has made the bold claim that Trump may jump ship in the coming weeks, handing his position to Vice President JD Vance.
While this is an ambitious claim, Carville does know what he’s talking about, being the strategic brain behind presidential candidates such as Bill Clinton, John Kerry and Hillary Clinton.
Speaking on the Daily Beast Podcast, Carville claimed: “He’s going to walk away.
“He’s a soft man.”
As per The Mirror, predictions suggest that the Democrats have a 76.9% chance of winning a majority of seats in the House.
This, of course, would be considered a massive failure and a vote of no-confidence for the Republicans.
Ultimately, this will all come back to Trump, as Carville explained: “They’re going to blame [Trump] – the whole culture is going to change. The whole conversation is going to change.”
Carville predicts that Trump will take steps to avoid the legal consequences of his actions as president: “He’s going to throw up a white flag. He’s going to go to Vance. And the lawyers are going to say ‘Look you can pardon yourself, but it’s a 50/50 deal. If Vance is president and he pardons you, that’s 100%.’ So that’s what he’s going to do.”
The political expert has been a regular guest on the Daily Beast Podcast, doubling down multiple times on his claim that Trump won’t survive his entire term.
Altogether, Trump faced 88 criminal charges before his second term, being found guilty of 34 of those as of this July.
This comes without mentioning the accusations he’s faced during his second term, which will likely be dragged up under a more cooperative government.
Carville, essentially, believes that the accumulating accusations will be enough for Trump to jump before being pushed, saying that currently Trump enjoys presidential immunity on behalf of his party.
He told the podcast: “You’ve got to realise that you’re going to be living in a different world two months from now.
“Political parties… they don’t like losing. As long as you’re winning, they’ll give you great leeway. If you’re losing, they hate you.”
With the Democrats looking to bring a number of measures into force in the event of a midterm win, such as reversing Medicaid cuts, they may decide to push for impeachment if Trump refuses to negotiate.
This leaves the current President of the United States in a rather tricky position – you could say stuck between a rock and a hard place…
