Four children have died in a house fire while two adults and another child are being treated in hospital, police have confirmed today (Tue).
Firefighters, police and ambulance crews scrambled to the property in Sycamore Lane, in Stafford, at around 2.40am.
A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman said: “A search at the property in Sycamore Lane is ongoing, but it is with great sadness we can confirm the deaths of four children at the property.
“Two adults and another child are being treated in hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
“Colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are examining the scene as the investigation into the cause of the fire begins.
“Our thoughts are with the family, who are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time.”
More than 15 firefighters from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled the blaze.
