Police find huge cannabis factory in house on ‘millionaire’s row’ near Carol Vorderman’s former home

Police have seized a huge stash of cannabis plants in a road known as ‘Millionaires’ Row’ – near the former home of Carol Vorderman.

More than 200 plants believed to have a street value of around £250K were seized from an upmarket address.

Officers found the cannabis factory in swanky Cadbury Camp Lane, Clapton in Gordano near Bristol during a dawn raid yesterday (March 19).

The private three-mile road is surrounded by dense trees and high fences.

Police were alerted to a strong smell of cannabis and a search warrant was executed.

Officers discovered cannabis plants and equipment in every room on the first floor, and many more growing rooms on the ground floor.

The discovery has caused shock in the community which once was the residence of former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman.

The TV star bought a 1970s property she later called Sloblock Hall for £1.1m in 2007.

Chairman of Clapton-in-Gordano Parish Council, Councillor Ben George, said he was ‘surprised and disappointed’.

He said: “It [Cadbury Camp Lane] is considered a lovely lane to live in.

“I’m surprised and disappointed to hear such an illegal activity taking place in the area. It is not what you want to see happening, especially in such a nice area.

“But I am pleased to hear the police are on top of it.”

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We’re keen to hear from anyone who may have information to help our investigation.

“We encourage members of the public to be our eyes and ears and report any suspicious incidents to us.”

Police enquiries are continuing.
