Free Basque Cheesecake on Results Day from La Maritxu!

Basque cheesecake is definitely a thing that is having a moment. A crustless, caramelized cheesecake from San Sebastián, Spain, it has a creamy, custard-like interior and dark, “burnt” exterior. Unlike traditional cheesecakes, Basque cheesecake has no biscuit or pastry base, making the filling the star of the dessert, and by being baked at high temperatures, the top develops a deep brown, almost burnt appearance, which gives a distinct caramel flavour. The inside is soft, also custard-like, and slightly wobbly, with a texture lighter than New York-style cheesecake. Hmmm, I can see why people like this.

Best of all, La Maritxu, started by a Basque native and reckoned to do among the best Basque cheesecakes in London, is helping people celebrate (or drown their sorrows because of) A Level Results Day – 13th August and GCSE Results Day – 20th August, will be giving away complimentary slices of its signature Classic Basque Cheesecake to the first 50 customers who present their results when ordering. The 50 slices will be up for grabs across all four of La Maritxu’s stores including Coal Drops Yard, Kingly Court, Connaught Village, and Greenwich.
