Deep sinkhole opens up in city street

Police have closed a road after a large sinkhole opened up in the the street, in Plymouth.


The hole appeared in West Hoe Road yesterday afternoon with traffic being diverted between Millbay Road and Walker Terrace.


Traffic site Inrix said: “The road has been closed for safety after a sink hole has started to develop in the carriageway.”


The road is closed to vehicles but not to pedestrians.

South West Water had a team of engineers on site to investigate what’s happened.
