In pics – Temperature maps show the ‘fireball’ globe breaking weather records in 2018

The summer of temperature extremes just keeps going, with record heat waves this month on all four continents that occupy the non-tropical Northern Hemisphere where it is now summer.

Japan’s weather agency has declared a heatwave sweeping the country a natural disaster, with at least 65 deaths recorded in the past week.

Nearly 50 people have died in wildfires in the eastern part of the Attica region around Athens, in Greece’s worst fire crisis in more than a decade.

The pics (below) show how much of the world is sweltering.
