Just in time for the spring, Mr Fogg’s in Mayfair has teamed up with Old Forester – America’s first bottled bourbon – to create a bespoke cocktail, ‘Old Kentucky Spiced’.
A heavily-themed bar that’s based around the adventures of Phileas J. Fogg, the protagonist of Jules Verne’s classic ‘Around The World in 80 Days’, the team at Mr Fogg’s have created the cocktail, which will be available for a limited time. The drink has a whisky base of Old Forester bourbon, which was first produced in 1870 and remains the only bourbon to be continuously distilled by the same family company before, during and after Prohibition. This is infused with vanilla and then combined with an exotic mix of ratafia, passion fruit puree and spiced marsala to create a rich, unusual libation.
The drink is available at Mr Fogg’s, priced at £15, while the recipe can be found below, ideal for keen home-mixologists to attempt this weekend.
45ml vanilla-infused Old Forester bourbon
15ml passion fruit puree
½ passion fruit pulp
10ml spiced marsala wine
4 basil leaves
A handful of raisins
A sprinkling of icing sugar
Mix everything into a shaker and shake well
Single strain onto crushed ice
