A petition to allow Stuart Pearce to re-take his penalty in the 1990 World Cup semi-final against Germany has been filed by online pranksters.
Several spoof petitions have been set up in the wake of a campaign calling for a second referendum following the UK’s vote to leave the EU last week.
One titled: “Allow Stuart Pearce to re-take his penalty from the 1990 World Cup semi-final” was set up on the official Government website, with social media alight with calls for re-runs of the Battle of Hastings and several other disappointing sporting moments.
Can we have a petition asking Stuart Pearce be allowed to re-take his missed penalty?
Also, can we have a re-run of the battle of Hastings?

Defender Pearce, a noted penalty taker for Nottingham Forest at the time, missed England’s fourth penalty in the semi-final in the shootout before Chris Waddle also missed to dump England out of the World Cup om 1990, although ‘Psycho’ made amends by scoring a pen against Spain in the quarter-final of Euro 96.
